So I have been thinking about writing the canon behind my Imperial Guard forces, the robust but pleasantly posh, 15th Helborn Regiment.
I have hit a wall, however, and would love your opinion on how I should narrate the story.
My options are to the story from the perspective of a Ordos Xenos Inquisitor, a Tau Commander, or an Imperial Guard Irregular.
Tell me what you guys think.

I think the perspective should come from someone who maybe isn't familiar with anything outside their daily life; i.e. a remembrancer, scholar, etc. Someone assigned tot he regiment (maybe their first assignment?) and learning the spoils of war first hand.
If you take the approach of a xenos, specifically a Tau, perhaps a prisoner of war or an ambassador.
The Horus Heresy uses this narrative device a lot.

Why not someone from a population that was saved by their efforts then his induction into their forces? Maybe eventually he'd rise to the position of commander, someone he saw at the forefront of the fight.
