Force 1: Emperor's Children
Force 2: Imperial Militia
Points: 1750
Mission: Deadlock
"Lord Commander. The planetary militia we encountered were far better trained and equipped than we were led to believe. Only Ancient Illotar, Master of Signals Pertious, Breacher Tembs, and Apothecary Rulthan survived the encounter."
"We mustn't underestimate these humans again. They have cast down our offer of the Imperial way of life so they must be ground under our heels. Send Centurion Vigilator Ecladian and a mixed force to hunt down the leader of this militia. If we cut off the serpent's head the rest will squirm and die."
"At once Lord Commander."
Emperor's Children:
Centurion Vigilator
Contemptor w/Chainfist, Meltagun
Quad Heavy Bolter Rapier
9 Tactical Support Marines w/Plasmaguns, Rhino
10 Tactical Marines w/Vexilla, Extra CCW, Sergeant w/Artificer Armour, Phoenix Spear, Meltabombs, Rhino
10 Breacher Marines w/Meltabombs, Sergeant w/Powerfist, Breaching Charge
Javelin Speeder w/TL Cyclone, HB
Caestus Ram w/Frag Assault Launchers
Vindicator w/Machine Spirit
Militia: (will edit when I get the info)
We set up the table for Dawn of war. I set up second and took first turn, attempting to consolidate my army on one side while keeping his plethora of Leman Russ tanks out of line of sight.
The vigilator was set up in a building with the rapier to provide them additional cover and an extra shot(I later realized that I had forgotten to take advantage of his sabotage rule).
Steven's scout squad would prove to be a pain in my side(or left flank) as they sat on objective one and earning Steven three points in two turns.
The militia line. Armour and troop at the ready.
My support squad immobilized on the building that objective six sat in. Instead of popping them out I decided to keep them in. My javelin came out turn three and began to eat up Steven's mortar squad and then his infantry squad.
My tactical squad zoomed up to hold the objective in the center of the table.
Shots peppered the Rhino, knocking down hull points, and soon they stared down a Leman Russ Demolisher and a squad of Ogryn.
Meanwhile the Vindicator was in a dual with an Leman Russ Exterminator...
...a battle it quickly won. At this time the Rhino has given up its cargo of tactical marines who, while trying to deny an Ogryn charge, clump together and receive a whopping 14 wounds from mortars. They survive all but three as the vindicator swings around to fire and not only kill the Ogryn but destroy the Demolisher.
The scouts pick of the lone tactical marine while earning Steven more points. Eventually the tactical squad turns to face them and gun them down slowly one by one.
By now the Caestus has flown in, barreling down the field to fire magna melta and krak missiles on the squadron of Leman Russes...
...killing one. In the next round it disgorges its cargo of breachers who slam into the remaining Leman Russ and infantry squad nearby.
The combat is brutal, starting off with a disastrous challenge and use of breaching charge which ends up killing only one militia soldier and one marine. This combat would grind on culminating with the breachers running and getting hacked to pieces.
As the remnants of that militia squad push forward the caestus hung overhead, one of its volleys killing the militia commander.
The game ended with the epic struggle of a lone Discipline Officer, his squad gunned down by the rapier/javelin/contemptor, charging toward the contemptor.
After a long and bloody game the points were tallied up and it was an Emperor's Children victory against the Militia 14-7.
"Lord Commander. The militia commander is dead." "Excellent." "We're hearing rumors that the local population is marking his death as martyrdom." "We'll have to be on the lookout for a planetary uprising against us. Carry on."
